BIT Festival 2025

BIT, which will spice up the year 2025 with theatrical illusions, could be expressed by the formula 13 in 26, which means that more than a quarter of a century has passed since the first one, during which time we have welcomed blind and visually impaired actors from all over the world and pushed the boundaries of what is possible into a respectable festival of inclusive theatrical art. It has been a great honour to welcome all our haBITants on our imaginary red carpet, but it is also an obligation to continue the tradition and keep BIT’s spotlight shining with an unquenchable light for a long time to come.

All these years, we have been breaking down prejudices and stereotypes, dispelling chronic sceptics and the faint-hearted, and showing that the human imagination is a deep well in which our faces, our desires, and our struggle for a status worthy of true theatre, or rather, a true festival, are reflected.

Is the theatre of the blind and visually impaired stagnating, has the economic crisis affected the quality of work and the possibility of coming to our festival? We are sorry to hear that some theatre groups haven't managed to maintain continuity because their shutdown is a bad sign of subtle concern and failure to implement the UN Convention in terms of active participation in the cultural life of the signatory countries.

We are glad that the Republic of Croatia, the City of Zagreb and the Zagreb Tourist Board have remained true to genuine inclusion, that is, the fact that art has no limits and that its subtlety can be enjoyed by everyone who has enthusiasm and a love for beauty.

Dear guests, respected audience, enjoy the happy thirteen under whose spotlight we will once again prove our theatrical truth and overcome our own dilemmas and insecurities.
